Yemi Alade And Angelique Kidjo Releases a Heartwarming Tribute to #MamaAfrica
It’s so heartwarming to see two generations of strong, talented and beautiful African women come together and release such an inspiring and glorious tribute to Mama Africa and her resilient children. The two indefatigable women have released a collaboration called “Shekere.”
Angelique Kidjo comes from the small country of Benin in West Africa, which actually borders Nigeria where Yemi Alade is from, also in West Africa. Fascinatingly, both have Yoruba ancestry, which they use liberally in their music, including this one.
Both are internationally known global artists. Yemi Alade won global stardom with the release of her fabulous single “Johnny,” which was released in 2013 and went viral thereafter. Similarly Angelique Kidjo is known for her groovy single “Wombo Lombo,” released in 1996 for FIFA.
